The Future of Faucets

At the recent 2015 Design and Construction week held in Las Vegas (Jan 2015) unveiled a wide variety of modern home conveniences. For the spare no expense budget this lineup includes motion and one touch activated cabinetry and appliances for what is being called, “The Handle-less Kitchen.” It’s contemporary, straight-lines, and a clean look. Consumer Reports is calling this trend largely aesthetic and easier to work in. However, there is an added cost for this new technology as only top of the line products are incorporating the one touch and touchless capabilities. As well as there is the additional added cost of the electronic maintenance. But the biggest question always asked at any expo is, “Will these new trends hit the main stream market or will it be just another fad?”

While it remains to be seen what will be hot or not, there is one trend that looks to have a very promising future. That is…the touchless faucet.

In the commercial world we have already had our experience with touchless. Consider airports, restaurants, and other public facilities where we’ve come accustomed to waving our hand in front of a faucet, dryer or hand towel dispenser. These sanitary innovations not only gives us a little piece of mind about what we touch or really don’t touch in public but are becoming more popular in residences. As well as the residential design line is expanding and evolving quite rapidly. Especially, in the contemporary touchless bath faucet models. So let’s take a look at a few of the popular kitchen and bath faucets already out on the market.

First, the touchless faucet can cost anywhere between $100-$2000 + installation depending on brand and if it’s either a kitchen or bath model. They can be found at most retail construction warehouses such as Home Depot, Lowes, other kitchen and bath showrooms and even on Amazon.com.
